Founded in 2015 by Christopher “Coach Chris” Brown, Grindhouse Hoops™ is one of the first basketball training facilities in Southern Maryland. Grindhouse Hoops™ was first established in Waldorf, MD to meet a growing need for elite basketball training and mentorship.
Coach Chris, known for his relentless work ethic, and passion for basketball development, saw early on that many talented young players weren’t getting the structure, support, or coaching necessary to reach their full potential. That vision led to the creation of Grindhouse Hoops™, a basketball training facility built on fundamentals and discipline.
In 2018, after recognizing that many of the kids he trained were not receiving the proper coaching during games, Coach Chris decided to start the Grindhouse Hoops™ AAU basketball program. This allowed training to be seamlessly integrated into the team environment, creating a complete development experience. As a result, the Grindhouse Hoops™ AAU Basketball Program has gone on to win multiple championships. Grindhouse Hoops™ athletes have competed in numerous prestigious national tournaments, including AAU Worlds, Balling on the Beach, and Junior Phenom. Additionally, Grindhouse Hoops™ student-athletes have proudly been featured during halftime performances at the CAA, showcasing their talent on a prominent stage.
Through programs focused on skill development, academic accountability, and life mentorship, Grindhouse Hoops™ has influenced hundreds of student-athletes throughout Maryland and beyond.
On July 26, 2024, Grindhouse Hoops™ was awarded a $10,000 grant by the Charles County Commissioners for successfully completing the Charles County Economic Development - Business Grown Advantage Program (BGAP).
In November 2024, Grindhouse Hoops™ was recognized when AAU Maryland District awarded Coach Chris the prestigious Governor’s Award—a high honor given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, commitment, and influence in youth sports across the state. This award reflects not just wins on the court, but a long-standing dedication to developing young athletes into well-rounded individuals.
